Dr N N Murali

Dr. N. N. Murali, born in Kottarakara, Kollam District, Kerala in 1952, is a distinguished medical professional who has dedicated his life to healthcare and humanitarian service. After earning his MBBS degree from T. D. Medical College, Alappuzha in 1975, he pursued an MS in General Surgery from Govt. Medical College, Trivandrum in 1980. His commitment to excellence led him to achieve a DipNB from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 1983. Dr. Murali's medical journey began in 1979 when he joined the Kerala Health Services Department as an Assistant Surgeon (Additional Insurance Medical Officer) at ESI Hospital, Ezhukone, Kollam District, where he quickly gained recognition as a skilled surgeon, even with limited hospital resources.

Over his 29-year tenure in the Kerala Health Services Department, Dr. Murali became affectionately known as the "Potty Doctor" for his dedicated service to the underprivileged. His tireless efforts to provide accessible healthcare earned him widespread respect and admiration. He ultimately rose to the position of Deputy Director of Health Services and District Medical Officer in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, where he continued to make significant contributions to public health. Dr. Murali retired on December 31, 2007, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication to patient care.

Dr. Murali’s retirement ceremony was held at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam, a revered national pilgrimage center, in the presence of Kerala's Chief Minister, Sri. V. S. Achuthanandan, Health Minister Smt. Sreemathi Teacher, and other prominent leaders. In recognition of his meritorious service, Chief Minister Sri. V. S. Achuthanandan presented him with a memento, highlighting Dr. Murali's instrumental role in the construction of a fully equipped Operation Theater at Sabarimala Sannidhanam, a facility that serves millions of pilgrims annually. Dr. Murali's career is a testament to his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare in Kerala.
